10 BEST PRIME MINISTER IN INDIA

1- Pt.Jawaharlal Nehru (1947-64)


He was the first & longest instated prime minister of independent india.
Nehru was bestowed with the Barat Ratna award in 1955, India’s highest civilian honor for his outstanding contribution during the freedom struggle and as the first Prime Minister of India.








2- Lal Bahadur Shastri (1964-66)


Under his tenure as the Prime Minister, Shastri lead the country during India-Pakistan war in 1965 and it was during this war that he coined the slogan “Jai Jawan Jai Kishan”. It soon began the national slogan.



3-  Indira Gandhi (1966-77/1980-84)


She created history by becoming first woman prime minister. She was termed one of the storngest leader not only in India but also internationally because of her foreign policies.


4- Atal Bihari Vajpayee (1998-2004)


 Some of the greatest scientific developments including
Nuclear Power testing were undertaking while he was in office .He is considerd as most honest PM after Shastri ji


5-  Narendra Modi (2014-tilldate)

In spite of only completing three years in office we have included him in list because of  his economic & foreign policies till date.

6-  Dr. Manmohan Singh (2004-14)
He is a great economist , he led the nation to a G.D.P growth of 8.2%.
During his tenure as the Prime Minister, National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) and the Right to Information Act were passed by the Parliament in 2005.






7-  Rajeev Gandhi (1984-89)


He was a leader of modern India. During his reign, he brought about a revolution in country’s information technology and telecom industry, by initiating MTNL Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited in 1986.

In 1991 he was awarded Bharat Ratna posthumously, India’s highest civilian award
8-  Morarji Desai (1977-79)


He became the first non-Congress Prime Minister of India. He was sworn in on March 24, 1977 as the fifth Prime Minister of the country.
He was bestowed upon with Pakistan’s highest civilian award, Nishan-e-Pakistan, for his extraordinary efforts in initiating peace between the two rival countries. Till date he is the only Indian national ever to receive the adoration.






9- P.V. Narsimha Rao (1991-96)

He is best remembered for bringing about economic reforms in the country while serving as the Prime Minister. Working along with the Finance Minster, Manmohan Singh, he introduced several measures including cutting government regulations and red tape, abandoning subsidies and fixed prices, and privatizing state-run industries, which ultimately revitalized the economy of India.
He was a scholar who spoke 17 languages.








10-  I.K.Gujral (1997-98)

In 1997 Gujral was chosen as the Prime Minister of India, but he held the position only for eleven months
”The Gujral Doctrine” that he developed as an instrument of foreign policy, remains the highlight of his career. It stresses on the importance on maintaining friendly relations with the neighboring countries. This doctrine earned him a great deal of respect.
